I’ve been working on several things at once. I’ve been so busy, not that I’m complaining. Busy is good. I putting together an Allman Brothers Band tribute podcast and I keep discovering more resources to draw from. It’s going to be interesting once finished. I am also till editing down an interview I did with Russell “The Hitman” Alexander oif the Hitman Blues Band. These guys are really good, so be sure to get some of there music. Getting a little done every day, that’s about what I can do, but I am enjoying every minute of it. At my age, and the learning has never stopped.
Going through the material about the Allman Brothers Band has been very fascinating. This is a band that literally created an entire genre, Southern Rock. When you consider the acts that followed these guys that list is like a road that goes on forever. Even modern country, can be traced back to these guys, and the ABB can be traced back to the Blues.
The interview went very well with the Hitman, Russell Alexander. What a wonderful down to earth person he is. The one thing I took away from talking to him is his dedication and hard work to the Blues. When you listen to his music, you come away with a sense of the Blues and it’s easy to see how the genre influenced him. That being said, the Hitman Blues Band definitely puts their own signature on everything they do. A certainly hope in the near future I will get to experience these guys live. Here’s a great song by the Hitman Blues Band, the song is “Catch-22 Blues” and it’s on the CD Blooztown:
