Today’s Blues scene is wonderful to watch and listen to. The young artists are taking up the Blues at a joyously alarming rate. It’s sort of refreshing as we watch the elder statesmen of the Blues move on to that Great Gig in the Sky. Younger Blues players have taken the torch that has been passed down from generations of musical geniuses, and they are running with it. I thought I might list a few here, but then, I have a list under THE BLUES SCENE tab on this website, with many interesting bios and career acknowledgements. I encourage you to read down through them. They are all hard working Blues people, buy their music, attend the Blues Fests through the country, and enjoy. The Blues is world wide, too… it’s a spreading phenomenon! Growing up in the sixties I was fortunate to bear witness to the evolving contemporary blues-rooted music roller coaster, scene. It’s still going on today, so exciting to see it come full circle. Let’s always be thankful to those who have blazed that road (The Blues Highway), and those who are determined to keeping it alive. As consumers of Blues music we have an obligation to pay our respects to the music for generations to come. Pop music has it’s place, but the Blues is the Roots, Everything Else is the Fruits. You were so right Willie Dixon.
Stay tuned Blues fans we’re just getting started.
