According to several new articles it seems people are rediscovering the Blues. Of course, I’d say it’s about time. But I’m not sure it has really went anywhere. True the standard bearers are passing on. Something that was certainly inevitable. As I keep exploring the genre, I find that there are many, who are taking up the music style, and doing well. Younger artists too, are discovering the music. So the future is bright.
In my podcasts I try to make sure I include a good mix of the new and the old blues styles. There is also a middle age blues artist that neatly bridges the gap between the old and the new. Artists like Coco Montoya, Tommy Castro, Marcia Ball and others who have played the Blues Festival Circuit, and inspired so many up and coming artists, they may not even realize their impact. As you follow my blog and listen to my podcasts I sincerely hope you get a firm understanding of the importance of the Blues in all genres of music. It will help you have a better understanding of the level of talent that should be involved, when created this complex sound… and hopefully it will lift up your consciousness, as it has mine. Thank you for keeping the Blues alive.
