I recently had the pleasure of focusing all of my Blues vibe on a delightful live set that was captured in Copenhagen, Denmark. At a place that is a mystery to me, the Cafe Bartof. After listening to the music that was made there by Peach and the Almost Blues Band, it must be an intimate music experience… it would have to be. When you hear the music that Peach and her fellow band mates put together, this venue must have been as big a part of their music soul as their own artistry was. This shines through when you listen to the CD.
The set opens with a cover of an iconic Bob Dylan number, Tonight I’ll Be Staying Here With You. The arrangement is perfect, a performance that would undoubtedly put a smile on Mr. Dylan’s weathered face. Ken Stange’s harmonica riffs put you in a mood, leaving one to want more. The good news, more is definitely coming. The second track is Never Make Your Move Too Soon, a funky number that
gets you be-boppin’ in your seat or on your feet. The piano dominates, and Peach’s vocals are a soulful, bluesy mix that is satisfying to the bottom of your music consciousness. It sets up the entire musical barrage that is to follow, every track is a hefty mix of electrifying instrumentation, held together by those amazing vocals, courtesy of Peach. Love-itis is a crowd pleaser, I can imagine the entire joint just a hoppin’ up and down, during this musical pursuance. One song on this recording that I particularly enjoyed is Tell Me You Love Me. Written by Peach Reasoner, it tugs at the heart and shows what a powerful vocalist she is, and what it takes to carry a set. All in all this is a great listen. I absolutely encourage to put this on your favorite music resource and sit back for a truly fun listening ride, not quite a roller coaster, more like a merry-go-round. A good time for sure, don’t pass it up. Take a listen to Same as I’m Over You:
